“YouData” & Ads That Don’t Suck

Have you seen the new site design? (RSS Readers: check it out HERE.)

Not only has this site been completely revamped with a new look, but things are a-changing around here for the better.  I have made the decision to include advertising on my sidebar, but not the yucky, clutter-y type.  No way.  I heard about YouData from Jessica Smith at BlogWorld, and I thought I would give it a try.

Why should you care?

You have the choice to see ads, or not - the ball it totally in your court!  If you choose to create a “MeFile” you can do that, and make a little change (read: money) too, but not in a scammy pyramid scheme way.  I’m not a big fan of over-advertised sites with a bunch of gunky ads that no one cares about.  This site is about content and helping you get organized.  Period.  Will you see ads on the sidebar in the future?  Yep, if you want to & sign up for a MeFile.  If not, don’t.  It’s that simple.

A better explanation than I could ever ever write…

Gwen Bell at Kirtsy wrote about YouData here (click to read).  Here’s my fave part that explains how YouData works:

“Here’s the basic gist:

1. You are matched with ads based on your interests through something they call a MeFile. You tell them what you’re interested in, they match you with ads. Sorta like eHarmony. If you were going to date an ad.

2. You control when and where you see the ads. On your desktop, at your favorite sites, on your own blog. Wherevs.

3. If you decide to look at the ads, a wee bit of cash flies straight into your PayPal account. This part is totally addictive — even though it’s just small change (21¢ here, 54¢ there), there’s something so gratifying about hearing the little cha-ching sound it makes after you look at an ad. Like, you’re getting paid for your attention. It’s pretty cool.
