One question I am asked when meeting someone new is “So, what do you do?”. More often than not, when I tell them I am an Organization Consultant, they ask a handful of questions such as: “Oh, you’re one of those people with all your spices alphabetized?” (This one happens to be true.) Or “I would love to see your house. I bet it’s perfect!” *insert awkward silence here*
Perfection, Shmerfection.
The truth is that no one is perfect in the ways we want to think. I mean really, how interesting would life be if it was always “perfect”. It reminds me of a commercial I saw about how nice it would be if we lived in a town called “Perfect”. Honestly, would we really want to live there? Perfection can be inflexible, rigid and denote an elevated expectation of the unattainable.
This week on The O Myth:Peter Walsh! You know him, right? He’s a regular on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and currently working on her “Clean Out Your Messy House Tour”. He’s a little in-your-face and yet with such a strong conviction for what he does, you can see it in his eyes! Krista and I had the honor of meeting Peter at the NAPO Conference this year (see the pic below, and read Krista’s story…hee hee…). He was our keynote speaker, and WOW was he fantastic! (It turns out he and I were both Rotary Exchange Students!)
Peter will be joining us to talk about getting your stuff in order, and specifically our O Myth, “If you don’t use it within a year, toss it out”. What’s he going to say? Join us tomorrow, Nov. 14 at 10am PSTon The O Myth to find out! And if you have a burning question for him, be sure to leave it in the comments below.
Poverty. It’s a word that a lot of people don’t want to talk about, and yet for millions of people across this world it’s a harsh daily reality. So, what can you do about it? Plenty! Get involved and do what you can. You can help by volunteering at a local shelter, buying school supplies for local schools or by starting your own project. There are lots of ways to help. The following organizations are involved in poverty-related initiatives. Maybe one of them will spark something in you.
On Thursdays I share a quote that I hope will inspire, make you think or just make you smile. Here is this week’s quote:The famous words of Bruce Lee, set to animation. Bet this makes you think, even if you’ve heard it before…
(Thanks to James at Organize IT for the original post!)

(I usually give a quote of a line or two, but I ran across this video and had to share!)
I love love love CNBC’s show, The Big Idea. Donny Deutsch showcasing and helping entreprenuers… what’s not to love? In this video, Joe Vitale talks about visualizing success. I heard Jack Canfield say recently that the last part of the word “attraction” is “action”. Without action, you can visualize all you want, but that makes it a wish (my paraphrase). Get your inner dialogue working out, and then put yourself out there and make it happen!
